Breaux Bridge - A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at The Family Church in Lafayette for Aaron Douglas Choate, 46, who passed away on Monday, January 6, 2025. Aaron’s health was a gift to him and he graciously gave that to others through the act of organ donation.
A visitation will take place at The Family Church on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of service at 2:00 pm.
Pastor Jay Miller will officiate at the Funeral Service.
Aaron Choate was born in New Iberia, LA on June 3rd, 1978. He grew up in Parks, LA and attended Breaux Bridge High School where he met the love of his life, Chantel. He was a linebacker for the Tigers as well as a member of the power lifting team. After graduation Aaron stayed active enjoying street basketball, and adult league flag football.
Aaron had a fierce love for his wife of 23 years, Chantel and his daughter Abigail. He lived life to the very fullest and always had a story to tell… a story that was sure to make you laugh. He was a man of faith who highly valued his friends and family and would always be the first to offer a helping hand with his best friend Duke, his dog, forever by his side.
Aaron was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his time in the gym as a CrossFit instructor at Ragin’ Fitness. He found pickleball later in life and though he had only played a few games, in his own words, was on his way to “Being a Champion”. He had a strong entrepreneurial spirit that led him to begin Aaron’s Fiberglass which became a trusted small business in the Acadiana area and beyond. Aaron’s legacy will live on through the love and laughter he left in each life he touched.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Chantel Gravouilla Choate; daughter, Abigail Choate; parents, Brad Choate and Dorothy Choate; sisters, Julie Smith (Jason) and Jill Mayes (Willie); father-in-law, Rocky Gravouilla (Eva Broussard); mother-in-law, Brenda Gravouilla; brother-in-law, Brandon Gravouilla (Lindsey); and nieces and nephews, Carson, Owen, Collin, Tracy, Cody, Naomie and Roman.
He is preceded in death by his nephew, Kelly Theriot.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Gravouilla, Jeremy Hohle, Courtney Gravouilla, Jeremy Broussard, Tracy Theriot and Matt LeBlanc.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Rocky Gravouilla, Brad Choate and Willie Mayes.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Legacy Fund set up in Aaron’s honor for Abigail… his Legacy.
Pellerin Funeral Home (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
