New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church in New Iberia at 10:30am on Thursday, October 11, 2018, for A.C. Elias, 74, who passed away on Monday, October 8, 2018.
Entombment will follow in the church cemetery.
Rev. Brian Harrington will be the Celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church, where Mr. Elias was a longtime member, on Thursday from 9:00 am until 10:30 am. A rosary will be prayed at 10:00 am.
A lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. A.C. Elias was born on September 21, 1944 to the late Edward and Edith LaBauve Elias. He was a 1962 graduate of Catholic High School in New Iberia. He was a teacher and track and football coach at New Iberia Senior High School prior to graduating from law school. Mr. Elias served as Assistant District Attorney in Iberia, St. Martin and St. Mary Parishes for 30 years. A member of the LA Bar Association, Mr. Elias was an avid gun collector and a proud member of the NRA. He enjoyed all shooting sports, and was the Safety Officer at Sentry Defense. He was Past President of the School Board of Catholic High, a member of the Panther Club, and a member of The Coalition at Squirrel Run. His greatest love was his family, and he passed on his love of music, sports and the outdoors to his children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.
Mr. Elias is survived by sons, Randy (Connie) Elias of Youngsville, Michael Elias of Magnolia, TX, and Scott (Aubrey) Elias of Kingwood, TX; daughters, Kimberly Elias (Michael) Bryan of Coteau and Jennifer Elias (Grant) Dore of Parker, CO; a sister, Barbara Hedge; grandchildren, Brandon (Shelby) Elias, Brett Elias, Mary Margaret Myers, Charles Bryan, John-Michael Elias, Emma Dore, Matthew Dore, Thomas Elias, and William Elias; and great-grandchildren, Ellie Elias and Addison Elias.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Dr. Gerald Elias, Sr. and Edward Elias, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Elias, Brett Elias, Charles Bryan, John-Michael Elias, Matthew Dore, and Grant Dore.
Honorary pallbearers are Thomas Elias, William Elias, Dr. Gerald Elias, Jr., Charles Andre, and William Hedge.
