Ada Nell Guidry

February 5, 1962 — October 15, 2007

New Iberia, LA - Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 11:00 a.m., at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church in New Iberia for Ada Nell Guidry, 45, who died on Monday, October 15, 2007 at Lafayette General Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 3:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Friday and continue at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening. Entombment will follow at Nativity of Our Lady Mausoleum in New Iberia. The Pall Bearers scheduled are nephews Ryan Derouen, Travis Derouen, LCDR Stephen Guidry, Kevin Guidry, Jody Courville, Scotty Segura and cousin Kenneth Robert Cook. Ada is survived by two brothers, Oren Alex Guidry II and his wife, Shelia, of Simpsonville, South Carolina, and Phillip R. Guidry and his wife, Sheila, of New Iberia; and two sisters, Octavia L. Guidry and Janet Derouen and her husband, Steven, all of New Iberia. Her parents, Oren Alex Guidry and Agnes Cook Guidry, preceded her in death. Ada graduated from New Iberia Senior High in 1980 and then attended USL. ?Ada graduated from a local business college. ?After a brief period away from New Iberia, she returned and has worked at Castaing, Hussey & Lolan LLC for 18 years. Her only hobby was anything that involved family. ?Ada was ""Nanny"" to several generations but did not limit herself to the immediate family. Ada was a life coach. ?She facilitated paths in life for us in our time of need. ?She just started asking questions, mostly about nothing; then it happened. ?You knew what needed to be done, even if it wasn't what you wanted to do. ?She also often gave lessons on finance, relationships but especially on love. ?As a peacemaker, she could calm anyone down. ?She could also get anyone excited! ?But best of all; she shared her sense of humor. Pellerin Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements. For those who wish to make donations in lieu of flowers, the family will accept donations payable to Janet Derouen to assist her sister Octavia Guidry with the ""Very Special Bowling League"".
