Arnaudville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville for Alberta Cormier Landry, 89, who passed away peacefully on Friday, January 18, 2019, at St. Joseph Hospice.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm on Monday, and continue on Tuesday at 9:00 am until 1:30 pm.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Monday.
Rev. Gary Schexnayder will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial.
Readers will be Hannah Landry, Juanita Clemmons, and Ciji Hollis.
Gift bearers will be Tamma Landry, Thalia Landry, Landri Hollis and Faye Guidry.
Interment will follow at St. John Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville.
Alberta, also known as Bertha, was born in Arnaudville, to the late Adelma and Melvina Comb Cormier. She will be fondly remembered as a loving wife and mother. Bertha was an extraordinary caregiver to her bedridden son, Terry, an impeccable seamstress, amazing chef, and a traiteur to everyone in Arnaudville and surrounding areas. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to thank the Carpenter House, J. Michael Morrow Nursing Home and staff, especially Yolanda and Tanya.
She is survived by her son, Perry Landry and wife Tamma; grandchildren, Ciji Hollis, Hannah Landry, Thalia Landry, Renaye K. Delino and spouse David, and Rachael K. Stelly and spouse Toby; great grandchildren, Tristan Arnaud, and Landri Hollis; and sister, Cecile C. Duplechain.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Landry; son, Terry Landry; daughter, Margaret L. Kidder; parents; brothers, Percy and Gussie Cormier; and sisters, Rosita Cormier and Joyce C. Knott.
Pallbearers will be Perry Landry, Tristan Arnaud, Kevin Guidry, Todd Stelly, Kent Cormier, and Neal Olivier.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Kroungold and David Delino.
