Breaux Bridge - A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 13, 2017, at Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge in Breaux Bridge for Alberta Hayward Swanson, 95, who passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 9:30 am until 10:30 am on Monday. Luther Burney will officiate at the Funeral Ceremony. Interment will follow at Ellwood Cemetery in Sycamore. Mrs. Swanson worked at Brody's Coat Factory for 20 years. She also worked in the food service industry at Northern Illinois University. She was a member of the Sycamore VFW Ladies Auxiliary. When she retired, she moved to Mountain View, Arkansas where she became involved in several quilting clubs, winning numerous awards including "Best of Show" ribbons. Mrs. Swanson was a talented seamstress but also had many other talents including, painting, wedding cake decorating, crocheting and knitting. She is survived by her daughter, Sue Campbell and son-in-law, Paul of Breaux Bridge, LA; son, Larry Bowman and daughter-in-law, Helen of Port Orange, FL; brother, George Hayward of Sycamore, IL; Grandchildren, Dan Blessing, Barbara Giglio, Sherry Bowman, Scott Bowman; 16 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Hayward; mother, Cora Hayward Schroder; husband, Kenneth M. Swanson; brothers, John Hayward and Albert Hayward; sisters, Marie Shott, Florence Mueller, Margaret Flury, Charlotte Hensel, and Opel Hayward; grandchildren, Robert Bowman and Timmothy Blessing; and her 1st husband, Charles Bowman.
