Alcide Hypolite

Parks - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at St. Louis Chapel in Parks, for Alcide Joseph Hypolite, Sr., 77, who passed away on Monday, April 29, 2013, at Regional Medical Center of Acadiana in Lafayette. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in St. Martinville from 7:00 am until 10:15 am on Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 9:00 am. Msgr. Curtis Mallet will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Shentrell Hypolite and Cheria Mitchell. Gift Bearers will be Maranda Charles and Kristen Noel. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville. Mr. Hypolite was employed by J.B. Talley for 33 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing in his free time. He enjoyed cooking and loved spending time visiting with his family and friends. Alcide was a thoughtful, caring, laid-back and soft-spoken man, who will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by two sons, Alcide Hypolite, Jr. of Lafayette, and Anthony George Hypolite of Houston, TX; his daughter, JoAnna Hypolite Gammage of Houston, TX; three step daughters, Jennifer (Percy) Charles of Parks, Sandra Charles of St. Martinville, and Vanessa Charles, who was also his caregiver, of Carencro; his former wife, Virginia Lewis of Houston, TX; his brother, George W. (Yevette) Hypolite of Palmdale, CA; his sister, Hilda Rose (Warren) Valmore of Palmdale, CA; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, George Hypolite; his mother, Mardoise Savoy Hypolite; his loyal companion, Mary Ann Charles; his brother, Alvin Hypolite, Sr.; and his dog, Sparkie. Pallbearers will be Alcide Hypolite Jr., Anthony Hypolite, David Hypolite, Raymond Noel, Alvin Hypolite, Tristan Noel. Honorary pallbearers will be Wilson Lewis and Kevin Hypolite.
