New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Coteau for Alex Bit Myers who passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, October 3, 2009 in New Iberia. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Prompt Succor. Rev. Edward Degeyter will be the Celebrant. A native and resident of Coteau, Mr. Myers, along with his wife Theresa, were the owners of Myers Grocery Store in Coteau for many years. Mr. Myers is survived by his daughters Joyce Beisser and her husband Terry of Coteau, and Sharon Johnson and her husband Tommy of Coteau; two sisters, Eula Viator of New Iberia, and Buleah LeBlanc of Port Arthur, Texas; one brother, Fred Myers of New Iberia; two sisters in laws, Mazel Myers, and Verna Myers; six grandchildren, Christopher Terry Beisser, Cindy Beisser Viator, Jacob Alex Myers, Katilyn Theresa Johnson, Ty Thomas Johnson, and BreAnne Norma Johnson; and ;five great grandchildren, Matthew Christopher Beisser, Lilly Theresa Beisser, Brandon Joseph Viator, Brennon Thomas Viator, and Sara Marie Viator. He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Menard Myers; his parents, Fancois and Remisa Myers; two sisters, Una Fremin, and Eunice Deslatte; two brothers, Claude Myers, and Wilde Neg Myers; and two infant daughters, Deborah and Ann Myers. Pallbearers will be Chris Beisser, Eddie Viator, Jacob Myers, Matt Beisser, Jim Myers, and Paul Knife. Honorary Pallbearers include Terry Beisser, Tommy Johnson, Brandon Viator, Brennon Viator, Ty Johnson, Fred Myers, Duncan Breaux, and Mike Jones. The family would like to acknowledge his good friend and roommate Duncan Breaux who was always there for him and the wonderful and compassionate staff at Belle Teche Nursing Center. The dedication and love you showed him will not be forgotten. A gathering of family and friends will be Monday, October 5, 2009 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM Monday. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 8:00 AM until time of service.
