Youngsville - A memorial gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Alex Romero, Sr., 85, who passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 in Youngsville.
A rosary, led by the Men's Rosary Group, will be prayed at 7:00 PM Tuesday.
A resident of Youngsville, Mr. Romero was born on January 3, 1931 in Lafayette to Clerphy and Corinne Romero. He was the owner of R&M's Boiling Point Restaurant, and the Snack Shack Drive. Mr. Romero had previously worked for the Borden Company for 25 years, and his hobbies included gambling, going to the casino, and playing Bou-ree.
Survivors include his sons, Alex Romero, Jr. and companion Shondel Galley of New Iberia, Donovan Romero and wife Valeria of Lafayette; daughter, Rocksand "Roxie" Maturin and husband Forrest of New Iberia,; grandchildren, Alex Romero, III, Monica Dribinski, Hope Hebert, Heather McGrew, Mackenzie Romero, Evan Romero; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; brothers, George Romero and wife Joyce of Port Neches, Texas, Cebre Romero of Erath; sister, Winnie Belle Romero Menard of New Iberia; godchild, Shirley Broussard and husband Larry of New Iberia; special friend, Jaylene Grow and husband Eric of New Iberia; and his sitter, Pauline Derouen of New Iberia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife of 65 years, Hazel Romero; brothers, Arthur Romero, Loyba Romero, Necess Romero, Osa Romero, Clebbie Romero; sisters, Ezar Romero, Olita Romero, Louise Romero, Cora Romero, Eula Romero; sister-in-law, Janelle Romero; and brother-in-law, Stanley Menard.
