New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at St. Peter Catholic Church in New Iberia for Alexis "Chief" Segura, 82, who passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at Iberia Medical Center.
Interment will follow in the Indian Bayou Cemetery in Indian Bayou.
Rev. William Blanda will officiate.
A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday from 9:00 am until 9:30 am at Pellerin Funeral Home.
Alexis "Chief" Segura was born on February 15, 1939 to the late William Carson Segura, II and Louella Maraist Segura. He worked as a plumber in the family business, Segura Plumbing and Heating, and then for Hubert Hebert and Sons Plumbing, Heating, And Air for 30 years. “Chief” loved fishing, hunting, and collecting and refurbushing antique juke boxes. He could repair and restore just about anything.
He is survived by his three brothers, David Segura (Cynthia) of New Iberia, Donald Segura (Toni) of New Iberia, and Richard Segura (Bonnie) of Broussard; three sisters, Louann Gipson (Douglas) of New Iberia, Louise Young (Phillip) of New Iberia, LA, and Annette Edwards of New Iberia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara "Bobbie" Segura; and two brothers, Billy Segura and Sidney Segura.
