St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, April 3, 2010, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Alfred Nuges Landry, 88, who passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Dauterive Hospital in New Iberia. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Broussard. MSGR J. Douglas, will conduct the services. The scriptures will be read by Irene Delcambre and Marion Judice. His daughters, Mary and Cathy, will serve as gift bearers. Mr. Landry enjoyed all types of outdoor activities; gardening, cutting grass and raising chickens. He was a people person; no one was a stranger to him. Survivors include his sons, Alfred Landry and his wife, Betty, of St. Martinville, Jimmy Simon and his wife, Kim, of Lafayette, and Chris Landry of New Iberia; his daughters, Mary Duhon and Cathy Landry both of New Iberia; 24 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren and 25 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Perrin and Maggie False Landry; his daughter, Betty Louviere; his brother, Jeffery Landry; his sister, Gladys Theriot; one grandchild, Edwina Duhon and one great grandchild, Russelle Duhon. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10:30 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday and continue at 7:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pallbearers will be Corey Landry, Cody Landry, Shane Reaux, Mark Reaux, Larry Reaux and Jean Reaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Chad and J.R. Reaux. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
