Alice Guidry Duplechien

VIEW VIDEO TRIBUTE Cecilia - Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Sunday, January 31, 2010, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Alice Guidry Duplechien, 94, who passed away at 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at her residence. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia. Scriptures will be read by her Godchildren, Liney Guidry and Lola McNabb. Mrs. Duplechien was a lifelong resident of Cecilia and a parishioner of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Altar Society. Survivors include four sons, Russell J. Duplechin and his wife, Ella, of Lafayette, James D. Duplechien and his wife, Frances G., of Cecilia, Dudley Duplechien, Jr., and his wife, Cynthia, of Cecilia, and Farrell W. Duplechien and his wife, Kathleen, of Lafayette; three daughters, Sarah D. Matherne of Birmingham, AL, Janice D. Thibodeaux and her husband, Patrick, of Cecilia, and Karin D. Guilbeau and her husband, David, of Lafayette; 14 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, of 62 years, Dudley Duplechien, Sr.; her parents, Gaston and Doralise LeBlanc Guidry; two brothers, Will and Anlow Guidry; and a son-in-law, Eldon Matherne. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 1:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Saturday and continue on Sunday at 9 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Pallbearers will be Russell, James, Dudley, Jr., and Farrell Duplechien, David Guilbeau, and Patrick Thibodeaux. Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia, (337.667.6464), is in charge of arrangements.
