Alice Gradney Blaze

Coteau – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church for Alice Gradney Blaze, 83, who passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2023.

Entombment will follow in the church cemetery.

Rev. Matthew Hebert will be the Celebrant. Readers will be Elizabeth Trahan and Beverly St. Mary. Gift Bearers include Adam Blaze, Nova Blaze, and Nash Blaze.

Visitation will be Thursday, from 8:00 am until 12:15 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home. A rosary, led by the Men’s Rosary Group, will be prayed at 11:00 am on Thursday.

A longtime area resident, Mrs. Blaze was born on October 19, 1939, in Basile, to the late Avie and Alice Gradney. She worked has a nurse’s aid and caregiver giver for many years. Mrs. Blaze enjoyed gardening, listening to music, raising chickens, and cooking. She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her children, David Blaze (Mary), Leroy “Boom” Blaze, Jr., Mark Blaze (fiance’ “G”), Adam Blaze (Channa), and Angelina Blaze; brother, Odley Gradney; eleven grandchildren, Moriah Blaze, Misty Blaze, Leana Blaze, Taylor Blaze, Torrey Blaze, Avie Blaze, Nickalie Blaze, Dylan Guidroz, Lucky Blaze, Nova Blaze, and Nash Blaze; three great grandchildren, Emma Blaze, Bowen Blaze, and Cove Blaze.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Blaze was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Leroy Blaze, Sr.; sisters, Lula Gradney, Mabel Abatte, Julia Durroseau, Florene Rougeau, Madria Addie; brothers, Jack Gradney and Austin Gradney; and a daughter-in-law, Ana Lucia Blaze.

Pallbearers will be Adam Blaze, Taylor Blaze, Torrey Blaze, Avie Blaze, Nickalie Blaze, Dylan Guidroz and Lucky Blaze.

The family would like to give special thanks to her care givers, Betty Gonzalez, Jenny Journet, Nicole Delahoussaye, Lorraine Lockhart, Hospice of Acadiana, and Home Health Concepts of Care.
