Alice Arnaud Huval

Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at 1:00 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia for Alice Arnaud Huval, 89, who passed away peacefully Thursday, March 22, 2018, surrounded by her children, at her home in Arnaudville. Visitation will be observed on Monday, March 26, 2018, from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and resumes on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at 7:00 am until the time of service at Pellerin Funeral Home in Cecilia. A rosary will be recited by her niece, Jackie H. Cormier on Monday, March 26, 2018 at 7:00 pm. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery in Cecilia. Rev. Neil Pettit will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Virginia Hebert, Renee Bourque, and Cortney Burleigh. Gift Bearers are Marilyn Dupuis, Lindsey Huval, Cassie Schexnayder, Kaitlin Burleigh, Mallory Burleigh, and Paige LeBlanc. Alice, known by many by "Mom", was born October 9, 1928, to Leo and Hermine Hollier Arnaud in Arnaudville. She was known as a loving, kind and generous person, who always put others before herself. Mom loved having all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren over for holiday gatherings. While she was able she enjoyed traveling, cooking, reading her books and sewing. She worked at Trappey Canneries in Lafayette and Poche's during her life. Mom enjoyed spending her time outside under her pecan trees, picking buckets and buckets of pecans. Every Sunday was coffee, dessert and lots of laughter, at 3:00 at Moms House. Strong in her Catholic faith, Alice would never miss Mass on Sundays and would go twice if she had the chance. She was always happy and loved to see everyone else happy too. Alice married the love of her life at age 17, Leon Jessie Huval when he returned from serving his country during WWII. Together they raised 11 children. Alice is survived by her children, Catherine Trahan and her husband, Sidney of Cecilia, Marguerite Richard of Cecilia, Mary Selby and her husband, John of Poche Bridge, Yvonne Richard and her husband, John Lester of Grand Anse, Jessie Latiolais and her husband, Don of Arnaudville, David Huval and his wife, Mona of New Iberia, Leon Joe Huval and his wife, Earline of Arnaudville, Nancy Walters and her husband, Jeffrey of Cecilia, Elizabeth Huval of Cecilia, Patricia H. Burleigh of Cecilia, and Adeze LeBlanc and her husband, Ricky of Nina; sister, Lucy Marks of Cecilia; 22 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and numerous dear nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Leon Jessie Huval; parents, Leo and Hermine Hollier Arnaud; five brothers, Howard, Edward, Henry, Franklin and Leo Bob Arnaud; two sisters, Clarice A. Huval and Leona A. Huval; one grandson, Julien Trahan; two sons-in-law, Reed Theriot Jr. and Charles Wilson Richard; and one daughter-in-law, Elizabeth D. Huval. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Mathew J. Richard, Adam Richard, Lonnie Huval, Brian Huval, Colby Huval, and Brody LeBlanc. Honorary Pallbearers are Charles Richard, John Richard, Rowdy Latiolais, Eric Huval, Leon "T-Joe" Huval, and Kenny Huval.
