New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 18, 2020, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in New Iberia for Allen "Al" Kidder, 78, who passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2020, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
Entombment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery, with military honors by the Acadiana Veterans Honor Guard.
Rev. Keith Landry will be the Celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia from 9:00 am until 1:30 pm.
A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 am, followed by a eulogy and a presentation by the Marine Corp League.
A longtime resident of New Iberia, Allen "Al" Kidder was born in Arnaudville, LA on August 10, 1941 to the late John and Angelle Dalfrey Kidder, and he was raised in Carencro. Al proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam Era from 1959-1964. Early in his career, he worked as a Sheriff's Deputy for Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Department, then worked in the oilfield for the remainder of his working days.
Al was deeply embedded in his Catholic faith, loved to fish, cook and garden. He loved spending time with his family, enjoyed people and reveled in making them laugh.
Al is survived by a daughter, Kelly Hymel and husband Cecil; sons, Lee Kidder and wife Stacey, and John Kidder, all of New Iberia; grandchildren, Brock Kidder and spouse Natalie, Kirsten Kidder Olander and spouse Corey, Regan Kidder, Jack Hymel, Ben Hymel, Isabella Kidder, Ava Kidder; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Kidder, Kameron Schunemeyer, John-Luke Kidder, and Lilah Kidder; and siblings, Jane Braquet of Carencro, Anna Delcambre of Tennessee, and Norma Landry of Carencro; former wife and mother of his children, Christine “Chris” Kidder of New Iberia; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews that Al loved dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Rory Allen Kidder; and siblings, Mildred Mamere, Raymond Kidder, Gloria Benoit, and Ellerine Kidder.
Pallbearers will be Brock Kidder, Regan Kidder, Jack Hymel, Ben Hymel, Terry Braquet, and Boogie Begnaud.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
