Carencro - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Carencro for Allen J. Babineaux, 77, who died Friday, August 10, 2012 in Lafayette.
Entombment will follow in the St. Peter Masusoleum in Carencro.
Rev. Mark LeDoux will be the Celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 4:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Monday. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM.
Born on June 21, 1935 in Coteau, Mr. Babineaux served the City of New Iberia and Iberia Parish for over 36 years. He was a Deputy Sheriff for 4 years, and a firefighter for 32 years, the last 7 of which he served as fire chief. Because of Mr. Babineauxs dedication and efforts, along with the votes of several lawmakers, the State Legislature passed a law stating that Louisiana Firefighters must receive a raise every year.
Survivors include his wife, Claire Fasullo Babineaux of Carencro; daughters, Crystal Babineaux of Dallas, Georgia, Ginger B. Nelson of Honolulu, Hawaii, Mary Beth Guillory of Scott, Meghan Babineaux of Broussard; step sons, Paul M. Lanclos and wife Monette of Opelousas, Daryl J. Lanclos and wife Nancy of Lafayette; step daughter, Charlette L. Alvarado and husband Charlie of Scott; brothers, Lawson Babineaux, Jr. and wife Linda of Lafayette, Craig Babineaux of Lafayette; sister, Elaine Babineaux ;Hebert and husband Gabriel of New Iberia; mother-in-law, Ada Sinatra Fasullo of Lafayette; 3 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawson Babineaux, Sr., and Pearly Segura Babineaux; and his first wife, Rita Bonin Babineaux.
