St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m, Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Allen John Lasseigne, 85, who died Saturday, April 14, 2007 at Dauterive Hospital in New Iberia.
Entombment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville.
Fr. Austin Leger, pastor of St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, will conduct the services.
Mr. Lasseigne was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was employed by Cleco for 35 years. ?He was a parishioner of St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, where he served as an usher for 60 years. ?He was a member of the Marine Corp League and the A.A.R.P. ?He was a lifetime member of the 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, of St. Martinville, and the V.F.W. ?Mr. Lasseigne served on the Housing Authority Board for over 15 years and served as a volunteer.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta Ducrest Lasseigne of St. Martinville; his brother, Howard Lasseigne of New Iberia; and his sisters, Verna L. Landry and her husband, J.B., of St. Martinville, and Marianne L. Miller of Wheeling, West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lionel and Corinne Broussard Lasseigne; and three brothers, Nolan, Elton, and Chester Lasseigne.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday and continue at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday until time of service.
A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
Pallbearers will be Mark Ducrest, Paul Ducrest, Philip Landry, Paul Landry, George Choplin, Frank Ducrest, and Ted Ducrest.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, P. O. Box 10, St. Martinville, LA 70582.
