Allen John Meyers, Sr.

New Iberia Private services will be held at a later for Allen John Meyers Sr., 80, who passed away on Friday, August 31, 2018, in New Iberia. A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. Meyers was born on July 16, 1938 to the late Sylvest and Mae Segura Meyers. He worked for Mallard Well Service for 17 years and then for Bayou Pipe Coating, where he retired after 10 years of service. Mr. Meyers enjoyed fishing, grocery shopping, smoking cigars, and sitting on his porch visiting with his neighbors. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Sherald Broussard Meyers of New Iberia; sons, Allen J. Meyers, Jr. and wife Karen of Bossier City, and David P. Meyers of New Iberia; daughters, Terry M. Alsayed of New Iberia, Linda Meyers of New Iberia, Darlene Meyers Smith of New Iberia, and Rose Meyers of New Iberia; brother, Alton James Meyers and wife Judy Bourque Meyers of Delcambre; sister, Diana Meyers Bonin of Catahoula; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; and16 step great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Meyers Derouen, and a niece, Pamela Broussard Istre.
