Breaux Bridge - Allen J. "Kojak" Thibodeaux, Sr., 85, passed away on Friday, August 17, 2012 , at St. Martin Hospital . A private memorial service will be held at Kojaks home on Saturday, August 25, 2012 . 'Kojak,' as he was known to his family, friends, and colleagues, honorably served his country in the United States Merchant Marines and was a member of the Louisiana Peace Officers Association. Having held several officer ranks and titles, Kojak was retired from the field of law enforcement. He worked with the Louisiana State Police for 15 years, followed by the St. Martin Parish Sheriffs Office for 20 years, and concluded his career with the 16th Judicial District Public Defenders Office, where he worked for 6 years. As evidenced by his devoted career in law enforcement that spanned over 41 years, 'Kojak' was dedicated to serving his country, the State of Louisiana , the Parish of St. Martin, and the communities of Parks and Breaux Bridge , where he grew up and lived. He was a longtime member, volunteer, and a past King of the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival Association. 'Kojak' is survived by his wife, Kathy Lea Briggs Thibodeaux of Parks; five sons, Todd (Tanya) Thibodeaux of New Iberia, Allen J. (Patricia) Thibodeaux Jr. of Lafayette, Kirk (Tammy) Thibodeaux of New Iberia, Dale (Ellen) Thibodeaux of Lafayette, and Terry (Lynda) Thibodeaux of Houston, TX; his daughter, Pam (Larry) Romero of Lafayette; two step sons, Shawn Briggs of New Iberia and Kevin (Becke) Barfield of Lafayette; his step daughter, Heather (Shannon) Fontenot of Lafayette; his grandchildren, Christopher, Chad, Ryan, Jake, Jared, Eric, Lauren, Adrianne, Brandon and Arabella; his step grandchildren, Devin, Michael, Landen, Haley, Riley, Jacob, Shelby, Sophie, Spencer, Parker, and Brittany; and 17 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Orile and Maydel Guidry Thibodeaux; a son, Rod Anthony Thibodeaux; and his brother, Roland J. Thibodeaux. Pellerin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
