Allen Zeringue

Cecilia - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Allen "Chien" Zeringue, 86, who passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Lafayette General Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm on Tuesday and continue at 8:00 am until 9:30 am on Wednesday. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm on Tuesday. Rev. Keith Landry will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia. Mr. Zeringue was a veteran of the United States Army, honorably serving his country in Germany and France during World War II. 'Chien' enjoyed commercial fishing and as a keepsake for each of his sons, he handcrafted paddles out of old Cypress. Providing for his family was a priority in his life - he loved taking care of them; making sure all of their needs were met. 'Chien' loved children and caring for them and enjoyed gatherings with family and friends on any occasion. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Hazel Devillier Zeringue of Henderson; two daughters, Angie (Dale) Huval of Breaux Bridge, and Elize Zeringue of Butte La Rose; four sons, Carl "Tommy" (Linda) Zeringue, Dave (Euline) Zeringue, Neal James (Kathy) Zeringue, all of Breaux Bridge, and John Allen (fiance, Kim Mahony) Zeringue, of Lafayette; his sister, Daisy Serrette of Henderson; 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, George "Numa" and Eunice Latiolais Zeringue; one brother, Lester Zeringue; and two sisters, Lydia Guidry and Mable Huval.
