Alpha was a talented woodworker, known for his impressive cabinet-building skills. His craftsmanship adorned many homes and churches throughout Lafayette, where there was nothing he couldn't build. His legacy will be felt in the sturdy pieces he created - reminders of a life dedicated to the art of construction and his unwavering diligence in every project he undertook.
A man of many passions, Alpha had a heart full of love for sports, particularly for the New Orleans Saints and LSU, whether cheering for them on game day or sharing exciting moments with his family. He found joy in gardening, fishing, cooking, and dancing, pleasures he often shared in the company of loved ones. Hunting became another avenue through which he could bond with family and friends, creating memories that will forever linger in their hearts. Most of all, Alpha treasured the time spent with his grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life.
As we remember Alpha Courville, let us celebrate a life well-lived, a character steadfast in love and creativity, and a legacy that will continue through the hearts of those he leaves behind. He may have departed from this world, but his impact and memories will endure with us always. Alpha was a great man and a wonderful father, son, brother and friend. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. May his soul and the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Courville; daughter, Angela (Danny) Lubritz; son, Dennis "Butch" (Karen) Sanson; brothers, Russell (Rosie) Courville and Melvin Courville; sisters, Emeline Theriot, Lillian (Butch) Courville, Paula Courville, and Paulette (Clint) Dauphine; grandchildren, Taylor Lubritz, Bradley Lubritz, Colin Sanson, Kacie Sanson, Blake Sanson, and Jordan Peterson; and his great-grandchild, Kenny Peterson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alpha and Leona Castania Courville, Sr.; daughter, Melissa Courville; son, Mark Courville; and his brothers, Alvin and Norris Courville.
Pallbearers will be Danny, Taylor and Brad Lubritz; Colin and Blake Sanson, and Luke Boyer.
