Breaux Bridge - A Memorial Mass was held at 3:30 p.m., on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge , for Alphonse Angelle, Jr., 89, who passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2011. Fr. Ed Degeyter officiated at the Mass, Concelebrants were Father Arthur Warren, Father Neil McNeill, and Father Paul LaFleur. Scriptures were read by Mikie Angelle and Angelle Dupuis. Gift Bearers were Julianna Hebert, Dani Dupuis, and Olivia Angelle. Musical selections were provided by Yvette Landry and Richard Comeaux. Inurnment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 - Mausoleum. Mr. Angelle was a veteran of World War II having honorably served his country in the United States Army. During his tour of duty he was involved in seven beach landings in the European Theater. Upon his discharge he enlisted with the Louisiana National Guard, where he served full-time with the unit until his retirement. He attended S.L.I., majoring in agriculture and worked as a farm instructor. Mr. Angelle was retired from the Teche-Vermilion Water District where he worked as a supervisor for many years. He was actively involved in the horse racing industry and was an owner and breeder. A man who valued and treasured his family, Alphonse loved spending time with his family, having weekend cookouts as often as possible. His favorite times were spent sitting under his pecan tree, enjoying the outdoors - while waiting for his children and grandchildren to arrive for their daily visits. Survivors include his wife, Marion Delahoussaye Angelle of Breaux Bridge; four sons, Glenn Michael and his wife, Linda Judice Angelle, Ren David and Jada Vice Angelle, Marque Allen and Pam Angelle Angelle, and Todd Joseph and Christine Castille Angelle; two daughters, Alison Marie Angelle Dupuis and her husband, Mark, and Michelle Annette Angelle Hebert, and the late, Timothy Hebert; one brother, Pedro Angelle, Sr.; one sister, Mrs. Wade (Henrietta) Begnaud, all of Breaux Bridge; 18 grandchildren, Mikie Angelle, Nick Angelle, Heath Angelle, Jake Angelle, Lizzie Angelle, Colleen Angelle, Marque Allen Angelle, Caleb Angelle, Jessie Daniels , Angelle Dupuis Dugas, Mac Dupuis, Dani Dupuis, Mary Phyllis Hebert, Julianna Hebert, Alex Angelle, Adam Angelle, Olivia Angelle, and Caroline Angelle, and 7 great grandchildren, Lane Angelle, Nicholas Angelle, Carmen Angelle, Gavin Sonnier , Peyton Angelle, Hayden Dugas, and Jaxon Angelle. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alphonse and Cecile Castille Angelle, Sr.; three brothers, John, Wade, and Lewis Angelle; and five sisters, Mrs. Wade (Agnes) Landry, Mrs. Dudley (Lena) Patin, Mrs. Raymond (Aimee) Roberts, Mrs. Robert (Luce) Champagne, and Mrs. Allen (Odile) Delahoussaye. The family would like to extend special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana, their nurses and aides, and also to his caregiver, April James, for the compassionate and wonderful care given to him during his time of need.
