Cecilia - A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cecilia for Alphonse Roberts, Sr., 83, who passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2017. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7 am until 10 am on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Cecilia. A rosary will be prayed at 8 am on Saturday. Fr. Neil Pettit will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Jean Mitchell and Dana Lemelle. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Cecilia. Mr. Roberts worked as a bus driver for 33-1/2 years for the St. Martin Parish School Board. During his free time, he enjoyed horseback riding and cherished moments spent with family and friends. He is survived by his companion, Shelly McGee of Breaux Bridge ; sons, Willis Roberts of Henderson, Alphonse Roberts, Jr. and wife Georgie of Cecilia, Wilfred Roberts and wife Dorothy of Breaux Bridge, Kenneth Roberts and wife Kimberly of Broussard, Joshua Magee and wife Adrian of Breaux Bridge, Willis Alexander of Breaux Bridge, and Alphonse Alexander of Breaux Bridge; daughters, Gertie Broussard and husband Eugene of Breaux Bridge, Alma Roberts of Henderson, Tina Anthony of Cecilia, and Bernice Alexander of Breaux Bridge; sister, Verlie R. Henry of Breaux Bridge; aunt, Arma Robertson of Houston, TX; 31 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Angelina Roberts; father, Alfred Roberts; mother, Bernice Daigle Roberts; brothers, Joseph Roberts, Sr., Calvin Roberts, and Melvin Roberts, sisters, Annie Mae Roberts Singleton, Elsie Gordon, and Annie Rose Mouton; and a grandchild, Raven Roberts. Family would like to give special thanks to St. Martin Hosital, Baton Rouge General, Acadian Ambulance, and Dr. Warren Degatur for their care throughout Mr. Robert's life.
