Alton Sr. Batiste

Jennings A Memorial Service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, January 2, 2016, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Jennings, for Alton NaNawn Batiste Sr., 80, who passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2015, at St. Agnes Healthcare & Rehab Center. Alton affectionately known as NaNawn took pride in maintaining his garden. He enjoyed an occasional drink with friends, and especially enjoyed the moments spent with his brother, Walter Poontah Batiste, Sr. He also enjoyed shopping for clothes and his trademark footwear Stacy Adams Shoes. He is survived by his sons, Nathan Batiste of Breaux Bridge and Alton (Kandice) Batiste, Jr. of Lafayette; his daughter, Lisa Robicheaux of Cecilia, and he raised like a daughter, Barbara Skinner of California; his brother, Walter "Ted" (Mary) Batiste of Jennings; his sisters, Yvonne Mercier of Breaux Bridge, Eva (George) Diggs of Parks, and Vivian Lindsey of Houston, Texas, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father; Francis Batiste; his mother, Bibanna B. Batiste; his former wife, Anna Rose W. Batiste, his wife, Golden S. Batiste; his son, Greg Batiste, and his brother, Ernest Batiste. Pellerin Funeral Home, (337-332-2111,) is in charge of arrangements.
