Alton Chataignier

New Iberia - Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Alton Chataignier, 83, who died on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 in New Iberia. Interment will follow in Beau Pre Cemetery, in Jeanerette. Deacon Jay Bergeron will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday from 8:30 AM until 2:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 AM Saturday. Born on May 18, 1929, Mr. Chataignier was a graduate of St. Peter's College, and proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Exxon after 36 years of service. His hobbies included dancing, socializing, and visiting with everyone. Mr. Chataignier was always willing to give a helping hand. Survivors include his sons, Neil Chataignier and wife Andree of New Iberia, Linc Chataignier of New Iberia; sister, Mabel C. Broussard of New Iberia; 5 grandchildren, Christine C. Evans, Grant Chataignier, Alison C. Migues, Chelsy C. Reyes, Jaci Chataignier; 4 great grandchildren, Coy Evans, Cohen Evans, Charley Evans, and Levi Chataignier. He was preceded in death by wife, Delta C. Chataignier; parents, Soligny and Elvidge Boudreaux Chataignier; sisters, Lona Chataignier, Sadie C. Betar; brother, Allen Chataignier; brothers-in-law, Alvee Broussard and Richard Betar. Pallbearers will be Neil Chataignier, Linc Chataignier, Grant Chataignier, Chad Evans, Jace Migues, and Billy Mair.
