Breaux Bridge - A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in Breaux Bridge, for Alvin "White" Blanchard, 77, who passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at his residence in Breaux Bridge. Deacon Marcel "Butch" Hebert will officiate at the Mass. The readers will be his wife, Annie, and Mamie Cooke. Gift Bearers will be Tony and Tonia Blanchard. ; Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1. "White" was a veteran of the United States Army, having honorably served his country in the Korean Conflict. He worked for the City of Breaux Bridge as a Crossing Guard. He was an avid coin collector and enjoyed woodworking - he was known to be a "Jack of all trades." "White" was a member of the American Legion Post 133, where he also served as Commander, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Honor Guard. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. Survivors include his wife, Annie Bourgeois Blanchard, of Breaux Bridge; one son, Tony Blanchard, and his wife, Tonia, of Breaux Bridge; four daughters, Melony Bianchini and her husband, Lawrence, of Carencro, Debra Blanchard, Sabrina Malorin and her husband, John Terry, and Eilean Lormand, all of Breaux Bridge; three brothers, Gerald Blanchard and his wife, Anita, of Breaux Bridge, Vernon "Sukit" Blanchard and his wife, Dorothy, of Grand Anse, and Samuel Blanchard, of Breaux Bridge; a sister, Agnes B. Patin, of Breaux Bridge; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alberie and Octavia Dumatrait Blanchard; a son, Dwayne "Bubba" Blanchard; three brothers, Ernest "Red", Cecil, and Darrel "Black" Blanchard; and a great granddaughter, Gabrielle "Gabby" Miller. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday and continue until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 12 noon on Wednesday. Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
