Breaux Bridge - A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 24, 2018, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge for Alvin "A.J." Joseph Courville, 76, who passed away on Monday, May 21, 2018.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm on Wednesday and continue on Thursday at 7:00 am until 11:00 am.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Wednesday by Raymond Rodriguez
Rev. Gary Schexnayder will officiate at the Funeral Service. Byron Blanchard and Rustina Bienvenu will read Holy Scripture.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
A.J. worked as a mechanic for Southern Pacific and Union Pacific Railroads for 40 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Mason Aurora Lodge 193, F. & A.M. A.J. was also a musician and an accordion player who enjoyed entertaining his family and friends with good Cajun music. He was truly a family man that made sure his family had everything they needed. His presence will forever be felt by those fortunate enough to have experienced his unconditional love.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Cheryl Blanchard Courville; son, Kody M. Courville and wife Tanya of Breaux Bridge; daughters, Kimberly C. Barron and husband Lance, and Kacie Courville, all of Breaux Bridge; brothers, Alpha Courville, Jr. and wife Mary, Russell Courville and wife Rosie, and Melvin Courville, all of Breaux Bridge; sisters, Emeline C. Theriot of Catahoula, Lillian C. Courville and husband Butch, Paulette C. Dauphinet and husband Clint, and Paula Courville, all of Breaux Bridge; and his grandchildren, Whitni Courville, Austin Barron, Maison Hayes, Kennedy Courville, Bryce Guidry, Gunner Courville, all of Breaux Bridge.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alpha Courville, Sr.; mother, Leona C. Thibodeaux; and brother, Norris Courville.
Pallbearers will be Austin Barron, Maison Hayes, Bryce Guidry, Kyle Dauphinet, Kade Blanchard, and Jack Dale Courville.
Honorary pallbearers will be Whitni Courville, Kennedy Courville, Gunner Courville, Lance Barron, Daniel Wiltz, MD., and J.B. Theriot.
