New Iberia - A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, February 16, 2008 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel, in New Iberia for Alvin ""Red"" Gremillion, 72, who died Thursday, February 14, 2008 at Maison Teche Nursing Home after a long illness.
A native of Bunkie and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Gremillion was a 1953 graduate of Sunset High School, where he achieved Eagle Scout Status in the Boy Scouts. He attended S.L.I. in Lafayette and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Gremillion served as President of ARC of Iberia and was a member of the Board of Directors of the St. Judes Crippled Children Hospital. During the 1960's he worked for Cardinal Wireline, and then later retired from Superior Energy as a salesman.
Survivors include his lifelong companion of 51 years, Katie Migues Gremillion of New Iberia; daughters, Mary Kay Gremillion Walker and husband Troy of Broussard, Kris Gremillion of Metairie; son, Scott Gremillion of New Iberia.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ruchin and Era Haley, Gremillion; sister, Alynne Broussard; brother, Ed Gremillion.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital.
