Alvin 'AJ' Joseph Guidry

Cecilia - A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 16, 2018, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Cecilia for Alvin "AJ" Joseph Guidry, 79, who passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018, at The Carpenter House St. Joseph Hospice. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Thursday and continue on Friday at 9:00 am until 2:00 pm. Pastors Jeff Ables and Ricky Dore will officiate at the Funeral Service. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia. Mr. Guidry enjoyed a good card game, playing golf, and watching LSU baseball and football. Throughout his life, he worked in various facets of the oil and gas industry in many different countries for 58 years. Mr. Guidry cherished moments spent with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Bertha Bergeron Guidry of Cecilia; sons, Lonnie Guidry of McAlester, OK, Kevin Guidry and wife Scarlett of Cecilia, and Aaron Guidry and wife Tracey of Lafayette; brothers, John Carey Guidry and wife Loula of Cecilia, and Ray Vaughn Guidry and wife Delores of Plaquemine; sisters, Elaine Chaisson, Marion "Sue" Patin, Lou Ella Courville and husband Douglas, all of Cecilia; grandchildren, Jeremy Guidry, Lindsey Pecot and spouse Brad, Natalie Guidry, Hannah Guidry, Blair Guidry, Neal Guidry, Dalane Guidry, Luke Guidry, Ben Guidry, Mary Johnson, and Adam Guidry; and great grandchildren, Gabe Pecot, Jude Pecot, Tate Pecot, Jacob Pecot, and Lincoln Stricklin. He was preceded in death by his son, Barry N. Guidry; parents, Will and Amelie Guidry; brothers, Melvin "Touie" Guidry and Norris Guidry; sisters, Rhena Guidry Dore and Linda Guidry White, and an infant sister, Marie Guidry. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Guidry, Neal Guidry, Luke Guidry, Adam Guidry, Brad Pecot,and Ben Guidry. Honorary pallbearers will be John Carey Guidry and Ray Vaughn Guidry. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of AMG Specialty Hospital and The Carpenter House St. Joseph for the love and care during this difficult time.
