Alvin Raymond Pontiff

Henderson - Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Henderson, for Alvin Raymond Pontiff, 72, who passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in Henderson from 2:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Monday, and continue on Tuesday at 7:00 am until 9:30 am. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Monday. Rev. Garret McIntyre will officiate at the Funeral Service. Readers and Gift Bearers will be Caitlin Guidry and Blake Hightower. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Henderson. Alvin enjoyed woodworking, tinkering with engines, working and building small boats, riding bikes, dancing, gardening, listening to French music, and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gale Melancon Pontiff of Breaux Bridge; his daughters, Karen Guidry and companion, Tanny, of Cecilia, Kristine Pontiff and companion, Ben, of Breaux Bridge; his brothers, Allen Pontiff of Carencro, Herbert Pontiff and wife, Betty, of Henderson, Octave Pontiff and wife, Helen, of LaPlace, and Gerald Pontiff and wife, Donna, of Arnaudville; his sister, Marylin Guidry of Henderson; his sister-in-law, Lou Pontiff of Arnaudville; and his grandchildren, Caitlin Guidry of Lafayette and Blake Hightower of Breaux Bridge. He is preceded in death by his father, Louis Pontiff, Jr.; his mother, Agnes Latiolais Pontiff; and his brother, Joe Pontiff. Pallbearers will be Allen Pontiff, Octave Pontiff, Gerald Pontiff, Tanny Latiolais, Ben Collins, and Nathan Patin. Honorary pallbearer will be Herbert Pontiff. The family would like to extend special thanks to Hospice Compassus for their care and compassion during his time of need.
