New Iberia ;- Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in New Iberia, for Amelie Castille Broussard, 88, who passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2009 in Thibodaux. ; Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, in Loreauville. ; Rev. John Hinton will officiate. ; Born on October 24, 1921, Mrs. Broussard taught at Hopkins Street School for many years and also Mount Carmel. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and the sorority KKI. Her passions included children, books, and the elderly. ; Survivors include her daughter, Cecilia Harrist and husband Ron of Thibodaux; sister-in-law, Betty Castille of Breaux Bridge; grandchildren, Stephen Harrist, Elizabeth Gavel; great grandchildren, Greg, Ellen, Kevin, Adlai, and Gunnar; several nieces and nephews. ; She was preceded in death by husband, Louis D. Broussard; parents, Adolph and Odile Sonnier Castille; brother, Lewis Castille; sister, Oline Babin and husband Wallace. ; Memorial contribiutions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 107 Global Circle, Suite 203, Lafayette, LA 70503, or to the American Cancer Society, 1604 West Pinhook Road, Suite 182, Lafayette, LA 70508. ; A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 8:30 AM until 1:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia.
