Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 14, 2008, in the Chapel of Pellerin Funeral Home, for Andrew Castille, Sr., 84, who passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at his residence after a long illness surrounded by his loving family.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Deacon Butch Hebert will conduct the funeral services.
Mr. Castille worked 26 years for Schilling Distributors of Lafayette as a warehouse foreman and caretaker of Schilling's Farm where he and his young family resided. He retired in 1972 and moved to Breaux Bridge. He worked in carpentry before and after working for Schilling. Andrew loved fishing, hunting and most of all gardening. He loved to ride to Lake Martin to view the alligators. Andrew loved playing cards and taking trips to the casino. He enjoyed telling jokes and stories and shared many laughs hearing new ones from friends and family. He was well loved by all who knew him and will be sadly missed.
Survivors include two daughters, Earline C. Berthelot and her husband, Jean "Ricky", of Church Point, and Irene C. Cole, of Breaux Bridge; two sons, Andrew "T-Boy" Castille, Jr. and Jerry J. Castille and his wife, Faye, all of Breaux Bridge; 16 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren; and his siblings, Maurice Castille, Charles Berard, Darious Jeansonne, Patrick Castille, Lin Berard, Gloria Castille Stout, Emily Castille Breaux, and Velma Castille Breaux.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Theoland Leger Castille; daughter, Mary Sarah Castille; great granddaughter, Kristen Cole; his parents, John and Bertha Goulas Castille; 5 brothers, Jimmy, Harry, Percy, Fred, and Davis Castille; 2 half siblings, Junior Berard and Shirley Barras; and a son-in-law, Dale Cole.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2008 and continue at 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Cory Cole, Jeromy Cole, Chad Miller, Todd Begnaud, Sylvan Olivier and Fred Strahlman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Castille, Jr., Jerry Castille, Rick Berthelot, Andre' Berthelot, Craig Robert, Aaron Miller, Damian Cole and Rickie Bergeron.
Andrew's family wants to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who cared for him through the years; Dr. Deborah Durham and staff, Dr. Mike Mounir, Dr. Person, Dr. Carolyn Smith, and the wonderful dedicated people with Hospice of Acadiana, Dr. Zehnder, Dr. Richard, Jolayne, Jana, Linda, Margaret, Kathy, Janelle and countless others who made his last days as comfortable and peaceful as possible.
The family would like to also extend special thanks to the countless time and care given by his in-home caregiver, Rickie Bergeron and Georgie Lormand.
