Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 24, 2007, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, in Breaux Bridge for Andrew "Put" Guidry, 83, who died on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at his residence in Breaux Bridge.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
The readers will be Jennifer Hebert and Michael Melancon. Gift bearers will be his daughters, Jeanelle, Euline, and Cynthia.
Mr. Guidry proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II; receiving special commendations for the rescue of some of his fellow shipmates. He retired from Southern Pacific Railroad after 34 years of service. "Put" enjoyed camping, gardening, and hunting, but what he enjoyed most was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Lydia T. Guidry of Breaux Bridge; his three daughters, Jeanelle Mouton, Euline Zeringue and her husband, Dave, and Cynthia Melancon, and her husband, Michael, all of Breaux Bridge; his brothers, Fred and Orvy Guidry; his sisters, Evelyn Latiolais, Dorothy Courville, Recilla Simone, and Romona Castex; his grandchildren, Angie, Ginger, Jennifer, Kristy, Julie, Cory, Tyler, and Ryan; and twelve great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Caliste and Marie Dupuis Guidry; his brothers, Herband and Curtis Guidry; and his sisters, Solange Morris and Beatrice Grubbs.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 3:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday and continue at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday until time of service.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be Fred Guidry, Dave Zeringue, Tyler Melancon, Ryan Melancon, Cory Zeringue, and Nicholas LeBlanc.
Honorary pallbearer will be Fred Theriot.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Hospice of Acadiana, for the wonderful care that was given to "Put" during his illness.
