Andrew Junius Savin, Sr.

New Iberia - A service celebrating the life of Andrew Junius Savin, Sr. (Sevin), 76, will be held at 2:00 PM, on Sunday, August 26, 2007, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in New Iberia, who passed away on Friday, August 24, 2007, in Dauterive Hospital. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in New Iberia. Rev. Guy Lavergne, associate pastor of the First Assembly of God Church, will officiate. Born on April 25, 1931 in Crawford, LA., Mr. Savin worked for Reading & Bates, Loffland Bros, at the Salt Mine on Weeks Island, and as a Boat Captain. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army, during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the First Platoon - Tenth Company - 82nd Airborne Division, and the First Assembly of God Church. A giving man to all that knew him. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Mr. Savin enjoyed trawling, fishing, hunting, singing, playing his guitar, and raising a vegetable garden. He is survived by his son, Andrew J. "Andy" Savin, Jr. and wife Cyd of Jeanerette; daughters, Mandy Savin Grissom and husband Billy J. Grissom of The Woodlands, Texas, Sharon "JJ" O'Nellion and husband Larry of New Iberia; grandchildren, Dean P. Ray, Clint J. Comeaux, Micah L. Yarborough, Holly S. Savin, Evan D. Savin; great grandchildren, Brenden J. Yarborough, Carmyn Comeaux, and Madilyn E. Ray. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Aline Eskind Sevin; daughter, Susan Aline Savin Kelly; brothers, Raymond J. Sevin, Roy W. Foreman; sister, Pearl Sevin Wedge. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Andrew "Andy" J. Savin, Jr, Dean Ray, Micah Yarborough, Billy Grissom, Darryl Prince, Scott Sevin, and Rep. Errol "Romo" Romero. Honorary pallbearers are Pete "Junior" Benson, Evan Savin, Brenden Yarborough, Clint Comeaux. A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd., in New Iberia. Visitation will continue Sunday from 9:00 AM until time of service. Pellerin Funeral Home of New Iberia, 337.365.3331, is in charge of arrangements.
