Andrew Benjamin Vavasseur

Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, March 17, 2008, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Andrew Benjamin Vavasseur, 80, who passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at his residence. Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge. Fr. James Fallon, Pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, will officiate at the funeral Mass. Readers will be his sister, Melazie V. Jacobs, and his nephew, Dr. Jarvis Jacobs. Mr. Vavasseur was born on October 7, 1927 to Benjamin and Anne Thibodeaux Vavasseur. He was a farmer for many years. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and will be greatly missed by them. Survivors include two brothers, Ulyess Vavasseur, and Raymond Paul Vavasseur and his wife, Gloria, of St. Martinville; and one sister, Melazie V. Jacobs and her husband, Deacon Lawrence V. Jacobs, Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Catherine Vavasseur James; a brother, Nathaniel Vavasseur; an uncle, Abner Thibodeaux; and an aunt, Eutah Thibodeaux. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Monday. A rosary will be recited at 8:30 a.m. on Monday. Pallbearers will be Miles James, David Vavasseur, Raymond Vavasseur, Jr., Dr. Jarvis Jacobs, Kevin Vavasseur, and Paul Doty. Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
