Angela Sawicki King

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at St. Pius Catholic Church, 201 East Bayou Parkway, in Lafayette for Angela Sawicki King. Reverend Dustin Dought will celebrate the mass, assisted by Reverend William Schambough. Internment will take place at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Angela died on September 26, 2015, at her home in Youngsville, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Her family was originally from Poland. After World War II, her parents were housed in a displaced persons camp. Angela was born November 9, 1947, in that camp in Heilbronn, Germany. She came with her family to the United States in 1949. They settled in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. She was educated at St. Bernard School from which she graduated in 1965. She graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana and attended graduate school at the University of Arkansas and later obtained a Masters Degree in Education. She lived and worked as a school teacher in California and in marketing in Connecticut, until her retirement. She returned to Louisiana in 2010. Angela was a devoted parishioner of St. Pius Catholic Church where she served in the Divine Ministries. She and Rose Mary Corman founded the local Divine Mercy Ministry for the Dying, a special ministry to pray for the dying. Her life here was dedicated to her undying love of Jesus. Her inspiration was, Jesus, I trust you. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adam and Genowefa Sawicki and by her sister, Helena Sawicki Charts. She is survived by her sister, Irene Sawicki Gauthier and her husband, Lester Gauthier, Jr., and by her brother, Richard Sawicki and his wife Haley Barron Sawicki. She is also survived by three nieces, Michelle Gauthier, Camille Gauthier, and Ava Sawicki, and one nephew, Michael Adam Gauthier. She is also survived by an uncle, Walter Sawicki and by an aunt, Josefa Sawicki Dolezinski, both of Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. She is survived by cousins in Texas, Vermont, and Canada. Visitation will take place from 8:00 A.M. until the time of service at St. Pius Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited at 10:30 A.M. Pellerin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
