Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 9, 2005, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Anne Elizabeth Dauterive Grace, 92, who died Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at St. Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge.
Interment will be in St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1 in Breaux Bridge.
In 1934, Anne received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southwestern Louisiana Institute. She taught elementary school in Cecilia for several years before working as Director of the Breaux Bridge Housing Authority. She spent the rest of her career working side-by-side with her beloved husband, Albert Louis Grace, Jr., owner of Al Grace Hydrostatic Testing Company of Breaux Bridge. Anne served as a Pink Lady at Lafayette General Medical Center and St. Martin Hospital. She supported the St. Bernard School Booster Club and Athletic Association, and was a member of the Widows of the Teche and St. Bernard Catholic Church. As a member of the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Campers, Anne spent many joyous years doing what she loved best; being with fun-loving people and traveling throughout her much loved state. Anne was known for her generous nature and loving attitude toward everyone.
Survivors include three sons, Albert Louis Grace, III of Lafayette, Michael Joseph Grace and his wife, Eleanor M. of Lafayette, and Thomas Edmond Grace of Breaux Bridge; two daughters, Andrea Grace Perez and her husband, Luis of Breaux Bridge, and Marie Grace de la Vingne of Carencro; six grandchildren, Albert Grace, IV, Dawn Maisel Cole, Chantal Barousse Dybala, Greg Michael Grace, Juliette Bonne de le Vingne, and Moises Perez; and two great-grandchildren, Lexi Michelle Grace and Kathryn Grace Cole.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert "A.L." Louis Grace, Jr.; her parents, Dr. Albert and Marie Louise Dauterive; her brother, Leonard "Doc" Dauterive; her sisters, Mildred Dauterive Gill and Ethel Dauterive Savoy; and her son-in-law, Patrick Bon de le Vingne.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 1:00 p.m. ~ 9:00 p.m. on Thursday and continue at 8:00 a.m. on Friday until time of service.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening.
Pallbearers will be Albert Grace, III, Michael Grace, Thomas Grace, Albert Grace, IV, Greg Grace, Luis Perez and Matthew Marsiglia.
