Anne Musso Melancon, beloved daughter, sister, wife, and mother, passed away peacefully at her home in New Iberia on November 28, 2023.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 4, 2023, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
Rev. Keith Landry will be the Celebrant.
Visitation will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church on Monday, from 9:30 am until 11:00 am.
Born on October 4, 1957, Anne's journey began in New Iberia, where she spent her childhood surrounded by the vibrant culture and warmth of Louisiana. She was a resilient and talented individual who touched the lives of many. In 1976, Anne graduated from Mount Carmel, and then attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now known as the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
It was through her caring nature and unwavering love for her family that Anne found true joy. Anne was a devoted wife to her loving husband and a cherished mother to her children. Her dedication knew no bounds as she selflessly cared for those closest to her.
In addition to being a nurturing presence within her family, Anne cultivated numerous interests that brought color and fulfillment to her life. She possessed a green thumb and had a passion for gardening. Her green haven bloomed with rare hibiscus plants nurtured with tender care. The sight of vibrant petals brought solace to Anne's soul as she delighted in each new blossom.
Anne's love for Louisiana extended beyond horticulture. As an avid fan, she eagerly supported the New Orleans Saints throughout their triumphs and challenges.
However, above all else, Anne valued time spent with loved ones. Her warm heart overflowed with affection for her family and friends. Gathering together brought laughter into her life and created cherished memories that will endure forever.
Survivors include her husband, Keith Anthony Melancon; mother, Georgia Boudreaux Musso; daughters, Mollie Melancon (Colby Lacour) and Lisa Marie Dempsey; siblings Thomas Musso, John Musso, Stephen Musso (Melany), and Susan Musso Viator (Chuck); mother-in-law, Emma Romero Melancon; several nieces, and her beloved Goldendoodle, "Sunni".
Anne was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Joseph “Buck” Musso; son, Jay Thomas Dempsey; and father-in-law, Rodney "Pop" Melancon.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Ochsner Medical Center, in New Orleans, Dr. Marcus Ware, and to Hospice of Acadiana, especially Laura Thibodeaux.
