Cecilia - A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Cecilia for Annie Lou Scrantz, 92.

A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Cecilia on Monday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Tuesday from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM. 

Deacon Ken Soignier will officiate at the funeral service. Readers will be Dana Thibodeaux and Heather Kidder.

Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Annie Lou Scrantz, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at the age of 92. Her departure has left a void in our hearts that can never be filled.

Born on July 7, 1931, in Henderson, LA.  Annie Lou embraced life and spread love wherever she went. She was a pillar of kindness, radiating joy and warmth to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Annie Lou's gentle nature and generous spirit touched the lives of so many.

Annie Lou was a woman of many talents and interests. She found great joy in playing Bingo at the senior center and engaging in lively games of Pokeno with friends. She also loved the thrill of going to the casino and trying her luck. In quieter moments, Annie Lou skillfully embroidered beautiful designs. She had a knack for picking pecans and enjoyed indulging in adult coloring books as well. Her culinary skills were admired by all who tasted her delicious meals, showcasing her passion for cooking. And when she needed some relaxation time, Annie Lou could be found cozied up watching her favorite shows on television.

Annie Lou's warm heart extended beyond her hobbies and interests; she was deeply involved with her family and friends as well. She enriched the lives of those around her through countless acts of kindness.

As we bid farewell to Annie Lou, let us remember her for the love she shared, the joy she brought, and the kindness she embodied. In her memory, let us strive to be more compassionate and generous, just as she was. Though she may be gone from our sight, her spirit will forever remain in our hearts.

Annie Lou Scrantz, a beautiful soul who graced this world with her presence, has left an indelible mark on the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten. May her soul rest in eternal peace.

She is survived by her loving family: her daughters, Sherri (Ricky) Kidder, Linda (Gerard) Doise, and Sandra LeBlanc; son, Mark (Laura) Scrantz; grandchildren, Brian, Jamie, Jennifer, Wade, Will, Rick, and Heather; 11 great grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Elia U. Melancon; and her husband, Ralph Scrantz.

Pallbearers will be Brian Thibodeaux, Wade and William Scrantz, Jamie LeBlanc, Meguel Roberts, Rick Kidder, and Rorey Roberts.

Honorary pallbearer will be Drake LeBlanc.
