Annie was born in Lafayette, Louisiana on April 15, 1925, to the late Robert Henry Sr. and Cecilia Cormier Henry. Annie's career as a caregiver and babysitter spanned many years and touched countless lives. With tenderness and compassion, she nurtured and cared for numerous families. Her dedication and selflessness demonstrated her unwavering commitment to serving others.
As a preacher's wife, Annie embraced her role wholeheartedly and became an integral part of the church choir. Annie's voice soared through the sanctuary, captivating all who were fortunate enough to listen as she used her gift to praise the divine. Her exceptional talent as a singer inspired awe and left an everlasting resonance in the hearts of those privileged to listen.
Industrious, caring, and loving are just a few adjectives that barely scratch the surface when describing Annie's character. She possessed an extraordinary ability to infuse love into every task she undertook. Whether it was caring for children or preparing delicious meals for her family and friends, Annie did everything with unwavering devotion.
Mrs. Simmons is survived by six children, Melvin Curtis Sr. (Eulalie), Arthur Curtis Sr., Davis Charles Curtis (Dawn), Linda Thomas (Pionell), Anna Mason (Freddie), and Debra Curtis Sam (Derrick); siblings, Cecillia Woolery and Jessie James Henry; 24 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
