VIEW VIDEO TRIBUTE St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2009, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Anthony Benjamin, Sr., 62, who passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Camelot Place in Rayne, LA. Interment will follow at Praise Church Cemetery in St. Martinville. The readers will be Sandy Solomon and Polly Benjamin. Mr. Benjamin enjoyed listening to Zydeco music and going on trail rides, but the times that he enjoyed most were those spent with his children and grandchildren. His friends will fondly remember him for the kind and gentle spirit he possessed. Survivors include his wife, Margaret L. Benjamin, of Breaux Bridge; three sons, Anthony Benjamin, Jr. (Lorena), of Verdunville, LA, Michael Benjamin (Latrina), of Patterson, LA, and Terrence Benjamin (Saja Manuel), of Lafayette; two brothers, Roy and Lil' Junius Benjamin, both of Cypress Island; four sisters, Anna Belle Alexander, of Breaux Bridge, Verna Charles and Mary Benjamin, both of Cypress Island, and Rose LaGrange, of Lafayette; and three grandchildren, Nashanta, Taylor, and Kailey Benjamin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Junius and Madeline Pickney Benjamin; and a sister, Viola Patterson. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until 12 noon on Saturday A rosary will be recited at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday. Pallbearers will be Anthony Benjamin, Jr., Michael Benjamin, Calvin Wilks, Jr., Russell Lambert, Timothy Woolf, and Horrace Benjamin. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
