Anthony "Punta" Berard Jr.

St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 27, 2018, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Anthony "Punta" Berard Jr., 82, who passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at his residence. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Notre Dame Catholic Church from 7:00 a.m. until the time of service. A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. Rev. Michael Sucharski, SVD will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville. Mr. Anthony was a member of the American Legion and DAV (Disabled Vet). He enjoyed spending time outside doing yard work and playing cards. Known for his great sense of humor, Mr. Anthony was a people person who always left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Most importantly, he was a good father who instilled the importance of respect in each of his children. He is survived by his daughters, Beverly Roberts of St. Martinville and Yvette Beauchamp of St. Martinville; sons, Patrick Berard, Sr. and wife Ronda of Chesapeake, VA and Mark Berard of Los Angeles, CA; sister, Cora Lee Jacobs of St. Martinville; grandchildren, Traye Berard, Patrick Berard, Jr., Jarrad Roberts, Alexandra Batiste and spouse Paul, Paige Roberts, and Aronji Berard; great grandchildren, Traye Berard, Jr., Torian Berard, and Rilee Roberts. He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony Berard, Sr.; mother, Lillian Gardner; brothers, Willis Drake and Charles Ambrose; sisters, Dolores Ambrose and Rose Mary Alexander.
