New Iberia - Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Anthony Alexander Metzel, 64, who passed away on Friday, September 4, 2020, in Youngsville. Chaplain Shelton Clay will be the Officiant. Interment will be at a later date. A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Wednesday. A longtime resident of New Iberia, Anthony Alexander Metzel was born in Richmond, Washington on September 4, 1956. He was an electrician, and was on a bowling league for many years. Tony was a huge Saints and LSU fan, enjoyed fishing, and loved watching westerns and John Wayne movies. He will be deeply missed. Mr. Metzel is survived by his wife, Linda Metzel; son, Brandon (Mhairi) Metzel of Youngsville; daughter, Spring Metzel of Erath; mother, Frances "Frankie" Landry of New Iberia; two brothers, Michael Metzel, Gregory Metzel; two sisters, Sandra Miller, Michelle Gaspard; five grandchildren, Hunter, Amber and Connor Metzel, Shoshannah Sanders, and Liam Williams; a great-granddaughter, Amelia Geoffroy; and another great-grandbaby on the way. He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Metzel; and a brother, John Metzel.
