New Iberia – Private services will be held at a later date for Antoine Joseph Derouen, Jr., 69, who passed away on Monday, January 11, 2021, in Lafayette.
A native of Jeanerette and a longtime resident of New Iberia, Mr. Derouen was born on October 4, 1951 to the late Antoine J. Derouen, Sr. and Betty Hebert Derouen for whom he had a special place for in his heart, and was a 1969 graduate of Franklin Senior High School. He worked for Transocean until retirement and then for CB&I in Lake Charles. Mr. Derouen was a hard worker and a very loving man who was always ready to jump at the opportunity to help others. He enjoyed carpentry work on and around his home, yard work, and spending time with his family.
Mr. Derouen’s kind and gentle nature allowed him to be loved by everyone who ever crossed paths with him. He has developed many loyal friendships along the years.
He is survived by his wife, Hollis Delaune Derouen of New Iberia; son, Christian Elliot Derouen of New Iberia; daughter, Catherine Claire Derouen of New Iberia; two grandchildren, Aidan Joseph Derouen of New Iberia and Ivy-Ana Claire Derouen of New Iberia; brother, Dean Derouen (Stephanie) of Charenton; two sisters, Betty D. Ortega (Joaquin Jr.) of New Iberia, and Della A. Derouen of Franklin; 2 nieces and 2 nephews, for whom he dearly loved.
The family would like to give special thanks to the entire medical staff at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital for the love and compassion they showed Antoine in his final days.
