Ara Thibodeaux Roberts

St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 1, 2008, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Ara Thibodeaux Roberts, 92, who passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 in St. Martinville. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville. Rev. Augustinus Seran will officiate at the funeral Mass. Ms. Ara's happy spirit was always exhibited by singing gospel songs while she was cooking. Her greatest love of all was spending time with her family. She was a member of the "Goodwill Society" in St. Martinville for many years. Survivors include one son, Wilbert Roberts, Jr., of St. Martinville; two daughters, Mary "Nellie" Gray, and Dorothy Zenon and her husband, Robert, all of St. Martinville; one sister, Sarah Jean Louis, of St. Martinville; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Roberts, Sr.; her parents, Martin and Adele Augustine Thibodeaux; a son-in-law, James Gray; 6 brothers, Able, Foster, Waker, Shaeffer, Saul, and Persley; 5 sisters, Doll, Gold, Money, Sista, and Anna Laura; and 1 great granddaughter, Sandra Gray. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning. Pallbearers will be Travis Benjamin, James Gray, Jessie Kately, Joshua Zenon, Jarvis Zenon, and Troy Zenon. Honorary pallbearers will be Steven Gray, Herman Kately, Jr., Presley Thibodeaux, and Dannay Gray. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
