Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Thursday, May 8, 2008, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Arthur Carroll Bertrand, Sr., 74, who passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Terrebonne General Medical Center in Houma. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1 in Breaux Bridge. Fr. Allen Breaux, Associate Pastor of St. Bernard Church, will officiate at the funeral Mass and conduct the funeral service. ?The reader will be Robin Bertrand and his grandchildren will serve as gift bearers. Mr. Bertrand was a native of Breaux Bridge and a resident of Patterson. ?He was retired from Southern Pacific Railroad after 36 years of dedicated service. ?He enjoyed singing and playing guitar and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and family. Survivors include three sons, Arthur Carroll Bertrand, Jr. and his wife, Sheryl, of Franklin, Tracy James Bertrand and his wife, Robin, of Breaux Bridge, and Anthony Bertrand and his wife, Gina, of Eunice; three daughters Priscilla Bertrand and her husband, Travis, of Stephensville, Patricia Blanchard and her husband, Denray, of Belle River, and Cheryl Grammel Meche and her husband, Allen, of Lafayette; 15 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren; and two brothers, Willie ""Billy"" Bertrand and James Donald ""Jimmy"" Bertrand, Sr., both of Breaux Bridge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Desormeaux Bertrand; a son, Floyd Bertrand; his parents, Frank E. and Cecile Hebert Bertrand; three brothers, Frank ""Joe"" Bertrand, Roger Bertrand, and Lindsey Bertrand; and two sisters, Audrey Ackerman and Daisy Dugas. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from ?6 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Wednesday and continue on Thursday at 7 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Pallbearers will be Tracy, Arthur, and Anthony Bertrand, Denray Blanchard, Billy Bertrand, and Jimmy Bertrand. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Blanchard and Joey Bertrand.
