New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia, for Arthur "Tut" Buteau, 83, who passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016, New Iberia.
Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
Rev. Mark Derise will be the Celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary, led by the Men's Rosary Group, will be prayed at 7:00 PM Monday. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM.
A native of Jeanerette and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Buteau was born on January 20, 1933, and played football for the Jeanerette Tigers 1951 District Championship Team. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army, and was the president and owner of Kay-Mac Construction Company. An avid outdoors man, "Tut" enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. A caring and generous man with a sense of humor, Mr. Buteau's family was most important in his life.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Loretta "Nicki" Hebert Buteau of New Iberia; daughters, Donneil B. Doucet and husband Ricky of New Iberia, Johnna B. Viator and husband DeLain of New Iberia; sister, Joyce B. Verret and husband Gerald of Jeanerette; grandchildren, Brandi V. Babineaux and husband Nicholas, Lanie D. Ball and husband Bo, Shane Doucet, Breigh V. Bourque husband Skylar; great grandchildren, Elliot Ball, Caroline Babineaux, Lillian Babineaux, and Evan Ball.
He was preceded in death by father, Walter F. Buteau; mother, Lucille Dupois Buteau Galtier; step father, Ceasar Galtier; brother, Walter "Ticky" Buteau; sister, Joyce Buteau.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Doucet, Shane Doucet, Delain Viator, Nicholas Babineaux, Bo Ball, and Skylar Bourque.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gabriel Fortier, Kenneth Vega, Keith Vega, and Pat Lanza.
The family would like to give special thanks to Heart of Hospice, and Mr. Buteau's care givers, Joyce Thomas, Beverly Rixner, and Krystal Derouen for their extra ordinary care and compassion.
