St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 11 a .m., on Monday, October 24, 2011, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Arthur James, 76, who passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at The Carpenter House in Baton Rouge. Interment will follow at St. Matthew Cemetery in New Iberia. Survivors include his daughters, Melinda Mitchell of New Iberia, Elizabeth James, Natalie Stephens (Jerry), Germaine James all of Atlanta, GA and Mathilda James of California; his brothers, Jeffery, Wilson, Robert, Calvin, Jessie, Wilton and Leonard James; his sisters, Antoinette Hypolite and Shirley Charles; his step-brother, Fred James, 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fergust and Antoinette James; a daughter, Enola Francis and a brother, Wilfred James. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Monday. Pallbearers will be Harvey James, Jerry Stephens, Raymond Gabriel, Isaiah James, Wayne Charles and Brady Mayeaux. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
