Arthur Sr. Sassau

Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon, on Friday, October 30, 2015, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Arthur Sassau, Sr., 76, who passed away on Friday, October 23, 2015, in Lafayette. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 8:00 am until 11:30 am on Friday Fr. Michael Delcambre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Cecilia. He enjoyed cooking, entertaining everyone, working on automobiles, gardening, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his unique sense of humor. He was a loving father, grand-father and loyal friend to everyone. The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to Lakeisha Primeaux, Chloe, Cousin Nina and Kaitlyn Kennison, and his Hospice Nurse, Mrs. Beth, for excellent care that they provide during his time of illness. He is survived by his sons, Mike Sassau of Houston, TX, Arthur Sassau, Jr. of Lafayette; daughter, Elizabeth S. Gaines of Lafayette; grandchildren, Tiffany Sassau, Donelle Gaines, Harold Jamel Calias, Jerome Kelly Calais, Bryson Sassau, and Tyler Sassau; 7 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Larry Sassau of Breaux Bridge, Lawrence Sassau of Leonville; sisters, Vesta Mamou of Breaux Bridge, Nora Calais of Lafayette, Mary Davis of Lafayette, May Oline Sassau of Lafayette, and Shirley Calais. He was preceded in death by wife, Stella Jean Roy Sassau; his parents, Landis and Rose Mary Davis Sassau; his sister, Virdie Mae Landry; and brothers. Landis Sassau, Jr. and Ricky Sassau.
