Rynella A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 24, 2015, at St. Marcellus Catholic Church in Rynella, for Asia Joseph Stein Jr., 83, who passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2015 in New Iberia. Rev. Eugene Tremie will be the celebrant. Deacon Theo Landry will be the co-celebrant. Reader will be Latrelle Babineaux, and giftbearers will be Jessica Stein and Arlene Stein. Interment will follow at St. Marcellus Catholic Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday from 4:30 PM until 9:00 PM. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Friday. Visitation will continue Saturday from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM. Mr. Asia was the original owner of Steins Landscaping and retired with Operating Engineer Local 406. His hobbies include; carpentry work, farming, playing guitar, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved his back hoe which was his best friend when no one else was around. Family would like to thank Dr. Sigue and Dr. Benjamin for their support during the familys difficult time. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Dugas Stein; sons, Stevie Stein and wife Jessica, James Stein and wife Arlene, Chris Stein and wife Angela, and Richard Stein all of New Iberia; one daughter, Julie Stein of New Iberia; brother, Donald Stein of New Iberia; sister, Mary Stein Dartez and husband Ronald of New Iberia; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents, Asia Stein, Sr. and Lelia Broussard Stein and one brother, Hilton Stein. Pallbearers will be Conner Stein, Cody Stein, Noah Stein, Ryan Stein, Harley Comeaux and Dustin Babineaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Stevie Stein, James Stein, Chris Stein, Julie Stein, Richard Stein, Harry Courville, Donald Stein and Ronald Dartez.
