Aspazie Davis Batiste

Cecilia - Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, June 14, 2008, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Aspazie Davis Batiste, 82, who passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2008 at her residence. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Cecilia. Reverend Fr. Allen Breaux will officiate at the funeral Mass. Mrs. Batiste was a cook at Pat's Restaurant in Henderson for 30 years and was also an Avon Representative for 20 years where she received many awards, including the President's Club and National Honor Society Awards. Survivors include her husband, Rogers Batiste, of Cecilia; one son, Wilbert Batiste, Sr., of Parks; three daughters, Georgia Williams, of Cecilia, Shirley Helaire (Francisco), of Breaux Bridge, and Rebecca Johnson (Ronald, Sr.), of Baton Rouge; three brothers, Leo Davis, Telesphor Davis, both of Breaux Bridge, and Felton Davis, of DeQuincy; one sister, Mary Carter, of Beaumont, TX; 17 grandchildren, Richard Williams, Mona Calais, Cindy Williams, Ronald Johnson, Jr., Dr. Rolanda Johnson, Rayland Johnson, Paula Helaire, Jared Helaire, Alton Helaire, Francisco Helaire, Jr., Wilbert Batiste, Jr., Monica Batiste, Lynette Batiste, Erica Batiste, Brian Batiste, Pamela Batiste, and Taisha Batiste; 25 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Zenon and Melissa Reese Davis; two sons, Alton Batiste, Sr. and Robert Batiste; three sisters, Hazel Davis, Ethel Gibson, and Lucille Peter; two brothers, Joseph and Carlton Davis; one grandson, Alton Batiste, Jr.; and one great grandson, Quinton Williams. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Pallbearers will be Richard Williams, Ron Batiste, Joey Williams, Joseph Noel, Ernest Noel, Jr., and Harvey Noel. Honorary pallbearers will be Telesphor Davis, Felton Davis, Leo Davis, Claude Davis, Ronald Johnson, Sr., Presley Joseph, Jr., Wilbert Batiste, Francisco Helaire, Sr., and Donald Calais, Sr. Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia is in charge of arrangements.
